Mary-kate & Ashley Olsen — The Row To Show Spring/Summer 2016 Collection During Paris Fashion Week
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen‘s three-time Council of Fashion Designers of America award-winning brand The Row has officially moved off the New York calendar and onto the Paris schedule. The date, time and location of the spring/summer 2016 show hasn’t been announced yet — nor the reason for location change.
For the spring/summer 2011 season, the Olsens also cancelled their New York show for Paris. According to WWD, the schedule change was due to sample delays.
Conversely, Givenchy recently announced plans to show its SS 16 collection during New York Fashion Week — instead of taking its usual spot on the Paris Fashion Week calendar — to celebrate the opening of its new Madison Ave store.
The Row launched back in 2006. The luxury brand currently distributes in 37 countries, and industry insiders estimate they bring in $50 million in annual sales.
Back in February, the Olsen sisters signed a lease on a 1910 townhouse at 17 East 71st Street on New York’s Upper East Side. The twin sisters expect to open an East Coast flagship for The Row by the end of the year.
The Olsen twins’ decision to show in Paris is the second big change for their company this week. The designers recently announced plans to produce their Elizabeth and James brand in-house for the first time since its 2007 launch.
For over seven years, Los Angeles-based licensee Jaya Apparel Group has been responsible for the contemporary brand’s collections. The decision to make the move in-house was purely contractual.
«It’s been an amazing eight years and we’ve enjoyed working with them immensely. We look forward to a great future for both parties,» Jaya Apparel’s chief executive officer, Jane Siskin, told WWD.
The Elizabeth and James pre-fall/fall 2016 apparel collection is expected to have an obviously different aesthetic than the brand displayed previously.
